Reduced humidity means residential air conditioners can work far less for increased comfort. Dry 78^o air feels much better than saturated 72^o air and is much less expensive to achieve. The energy dollars saved monthly pay for the unit in a relatively short period of time.

An air conditioning unit alone cannot maintain the low levels of humidity required year-round to control dust mites, mold, mildew and other allergy-causing organisms. In the near future, The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) will require continuous-ventilation AC units, that will result in even more humidity in homes. The demand for removing that new moisture will grow.
